CHAIRMAKING 


The "tsaeras" (chairmaker) is the craftsman who manufactures chairs -“tsaeres”. Old building style chairs in the city was different from that in rural areas.

In the city the chairmaker handcrafted  two types of chairs. One type was a skeleton wood round and one rectangular wood. The wood used was cypress, oak, plane tree, mulberry tree etc.,

The seat of the chair was made by tying rush  was natural  rope rushes who knitted by the Craftsmen  in the area.

The decoration of wood was engraved with shallow cycles. More rarely made geometric decorations with woodcarving tools.

Formerly the craftsmen had to turn the entire forest to choose the wood which first had to char, be left for several months to dry off and then use them.
